CROSSFIT - Forging World-Class Fitness!

We believe the CrossFit strength & conditioning program is the most effective way for anyone, regardless of background or experience, to achieve optimal and/or world class fitness. As such, we are proud to be Winnipeg and Manitoba's first Crossfit Affiliate, CrossFit Manitoba, and have already proven CrossFit's effectiveness with all of our personal training clients. Check out CrossFit Manitoba to learn more.

Our mission is to bring state-of-the-art coaching techniques to the general public, athlete, military personnel, and public servant (police, fire, and emergency medical services) whose goal is total fitness - both for everyday life and/or to survive everyday on the job.

CrossFit is the world's best strength & conditioning program, developed to enhance competency in all physical tasks. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize performance in all recognized fitness domains. The CrossFit method is best summed up as, "Functional movements that are constantly varied and performed at high intensity".

CrossFit's program addresses all ten general physical skills:  Cardiovascular & Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. If your current training program falls short in helping you improve any of these physical skills, you need to try CrossFit!

We have developed a CrossFit Foundations Program which is a 3-session personal training package. You will learn about CrossFit, the core exercises, and get to experience the workouts. Go to CrossManitoba to learn more, or contact us to get started.

CrossFit one-on-one and small group workouts (up to a maximum of 4 participants per session) are conducted at Assiniboine Athletic Club, located in historic downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 401-83 Garry Street, in Fort Garry Place.

PERSONAL & SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Our personal (one-on-one) or small group (up to 4 participants) workout sessions are each organized into three (3) parts:

1. Exercise demonstration, practise, and warm-up - we review the fundamentals or teach you a new movement to add to your "tool box". At GOTS, we believe that proper exercise performance is most important to ensure safety and optimize the training effect. As well, we believe that physical rehearsal of the movements going to be utilized during your workout serve as a better warm-up than wasting 10 minutes on a treadmill or stationary bike before your workout.

2. Work-out - At GOTS, our personal training clients never know exactly what they are going to do, but one thing they do know is they will always have a great workout. One of the reasons our clients see results and continuous improvements is that they are always pushed to their MAX. Your body will only improve when there is a stimulus creating a need for change and we make every effort for that training effect to be achieved.

3. Cool-down & stretching - after your workout, we help you bring your heart rate down safely and gradually, and assist you in stretching to optimize recovery.

Personal and small group workouts are conducted at Assiniboine Athletic Club, located in historic downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 401-83 Garry Street, in Fort Garry Place.

BOOT CAMP- A Fun Way To Test and Challenge Yourself.

Originally designed for our women's fitness & figure competitors, our Boot Camp-style group workout has grown dramatically. Our regular male & female participants come from many athletic backgrounds and fitness levels. In addition to women's fitness & figure competitors; mixed martial artists, boxers, fire fighters, police officers, hockey, football, soccer, baseball, ringette, and volleyball players have all benefitted greatly from these 50 minute intense non-stop action workouts.

Our Boot Camp group workouts, which include a lot of the CrossFit exercises, are held every Tuesday at 830 pm and Saturday at 12 noon, at Assiniboine Athletic Club, located in historic downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 401-83 Garry Street, in Fort Garry Place.

Why do you need a Personal Trainer?

(Source - www.sportsmedicine.about.com)

Here are nine reasons a personal trainer may be right for you.

  1. Motivation
One of the main reasons people benefit from a personal trainer is that they lose motivation to stick with a consistent exercise program. Certified personal trainers can provide structure and accountability, and help you develop a lifestyle that encourages health.
  2. Individualized program
If you have any chronic health conditions, injuries or training goals (running a marathon, for example) a trainer will work with you and your health care provider to plan a safe, efficient program that considers these needs and enable you to reach your health goals.
  3. Efficiency
Personal Trainers help you focus on results and stop wasting your time doing inefficient workouts. A personal trainer has a plan and will help you get maximum results in minimum time.
  4. Improve Technical Skills
The right personal trainer will help you improve your skill by showing you new training techniques and ensuring correct exercise performance. The Trainer will incorporate various training modes into your program so you improve not only your strength and endurance, but your flexibility, stamina, speed, power, agility, coordination, balance and accuracy as well.
  5. You Are New To Exercise
If you are an absolute beginner, a personal trainer is the ultimate fitness coach. A good trainer will introduce you to a variety of effective exercises and build efficiently so before you know it, you have the confidence and knowledge to decide what is right for you.
  6. Break Through Plateaus
Ok, you are already in pretty decent shape, but you've been there for years. If you are stuck in the same routine and want to break out of a rut, a personal trainer is the perfect solution. A trainer will jump start, not only your motivation, but your program as well.
  7. Workout Safely
A personal trainer watches your form, monitors your vitals and can provide objective feedback about your strengths and/or weakenesses. Most of us tend to ignore some of the subtle signals our body provides. We either push through pain or give up too soon. Because a personal trainer can watch what you are doing while you are doing it, they can help push you or slow you down as necessary.
  8. Workout At Home
Many personal trainers make house calls. If you don't have the time or interest in going to a gym, but have a hard time knowing what to do on your own at home, a personal trainer can bring fitness into your living room.
  9. Lose Weight
There is a good reason that the number one reason people hire personal trainers is to lose weight and get into shape -- it works. If you made a resolution to lose the fat and build the muscle, a trainer can keep you on track and help you realize that goal.
